Fish Rescues & Removals

Fish rescues typically fall into two categories planned or unplanned. A planned fish rescue will often be due to a lake, pond, quarry or part of waterway being de-watered for work to be undertaken and the fish being rescued and relocated as the water is removed. In these instances, AquaServe UK work closely with the client to ensure that when the time comes that all is prepared, and fish can be quickly and efficiently translocated with the minimum of distress using modern equipment and trained operatives.

Unplanned fish rescues are sadly often caused by pollution incidents, water quality crashes or loss of water. In these circumstances the action we can take will often be more limited, but wherever possible AquaServe UK will act to reduce fish fatalities and rescue as many fish as possible.

There are many good reasons to remove fish from a water, this can be due to unsustainable populations, fish welfare, illegally or inappropriately stocked species, to improve water quality or improve the habitat for other species.

AquaServe UK provide a comprehensive fish removal service whether it is to reduce populations or in some cases, to remove fish entirely from a water. AquaServe are well equipped with seine nets, electrofishing apparatus and traps and can fully de-water a lake or pond where a full fish removal is required, AquaServe UK’s operatives are well trained in fish handling and welfare and in the identification of ILFA (non-native and novel) species.
